People Magazine just chose its annual Sexiest Man Recipient, giving actor Hugh Jackman the title of Sexiest Man Alive. The choice probably doesn't surprise many fans of the actor, as he has been smoldering on the big screen for quite a few years now. Jackman is 40 years old now, having celebrated a birthday on October 12th, and is a native of Sydney, Australia. Sorry though ladies, he is a happily married man with two kids, who tied the knot back in 1996. Hugh Jackman is married to Deborra Lee Furness, who he met while co-starring on the Australian TV series Correlli.

Hugh Jackman is probably best known for his break-out role as Wolverine in the first three X-Men movies, a role he will reprise when X-Men Origins: Wolverine comes out later in 2009. The actor has also been seen in the romantic comedy Kate & Leopold with Meg Ryan, as the vampire killer Van Helsing opposite Kate Beckinsale, and alongside Halle Berry in the technological thriller Swordfish. Other films to his credit include The Fountain, The Prestige, Happy Feet, Scoop, and Deception. Very soon he will be seen in Baz Luhrmann's epic film Australia, where he will play opposite Nicole Kidman. The film is a huge one in nature, and is definitely going to only help his image as a sexy leading man.

Jackman is typically a shy person, often staying out of the Hollywood lime-light, and instead focusing on his family. The selection of sexiest man alive b People is something for him to be proud of, but probably also a distinction that he wouldn't give himself either. It is sure to be an honor to his wife Deborra Lee Furness though, who certainly has scooped the rest of the women of the world who would agree with People Magazine's latest distinction.
