DOWN FROM THE MOUNTAIN

Fuji's whiz kids have come up with the FinePix S2000HD, a compact and lightweight 10-megapixel digital camera with a 15x optical zoom lens and HD movie recording and output capabilities. They've also packed in face-detection technology, image stabilisation, high sensitivity ISO6400 and a machine-gun shooting rate of 13.5 frames per second. The 2GB SD card model has a suggested price of Bt11,900 - see if you can find it cheaper.

IT'S A SHOOTOUT!

Aiming to shoot down the Fuji, the Casio's EXILIM Zoom EXZ300 comes armed with a Makeup Mode to smooth looks for beautiful portraits. When night falls there's extra ammunition, with a mode for blur-free scenes without using a tripod. It also has 10.1-megapixel resolution, a 4x optical zoom with 28 to 112mm focal length, and a 3-inch LCD screen. They want Bt90 more than the Fuji for it.

LOST IN SPACE?

The Thai Edition of the Garmin nuvi 710 is a state-of-the-art GPS navigator with a lot of useful features. It uses the latest map software from ESRITH with 400,000 points of interest around the country. The Bluetooth feature links to your mobile phone, giving you access to 70,000 phone numbers for the points of interest. It can also be loaded with geo-coded photos to provide photo-search features of your destinations. ESRI distributes the Garmin Thai Edition for Bt24,900.

COME ON OVER TO MINTPAD

South Korean gadget gurus Mintpass have developed a handy multifunction gizmo they call the Mintpad. It surfs the web, plays 4GB (or more with a microSD card) of music and videos on its 3-inch display and -get this - you can write post-it notes on it with the stylus. It costs around 198,000 won, or Bt5,200 if you're lucky enough to find one here.

NICE RING ON YOUR FINGER
