Acclaimed butoh master Katsura Kan returns to Bangkok for a December festival
Leading butoh artists will again be delighting Bangkok audiences later in this year, as the fourth International Butoh Festival 2008 is celebrated at the Tadu Contemporary Art Centre from December 4 to 13. Organised by Butoh CoOp Thailand and BFloor Theatre Group, the festival will include performances by Japanese guru Katsura Kan and his friends, who will also lead a workshop. A photo exhibition by Stephan Funke adds candy to the visual feast. The highlight is a performance on December 12 at 7 featuring Takayuki Takita, Takasago Butoh CoOp, Bare Bones Butoh, Yuko Kawamoto, and Koichi and Hiroko Tamano. Kan performs solo on December 13. Tickets cost Bt500 and Bt300 for students. There’ll be a series of workshops kicking off at 6 between December 4 and 10 facilitated by Koichi and Hiorko Tamano (December 4), Takayuki Takita (December 9) and Yuko Kawamoto (December 10).
