A group of artists and musicians reflect upon the political divide
Colour has taken on great significance in Thai society and we’re not talking about skin. If you support the PAD, you wear yellow; if you’re antiPAD, you don red. But there are many who wear neither yellow or red. On Friday, 53 filmmakers, artists and cultural experts are gathering at Pridi Banomyong Institute on Soi Thonglor at 7 speak out about the present political situation through a marathon screening of silent videos and short films. Hosted by the Thai Film Foundation and the Institute, the films offer a portrayal of Thai society and politics and reflect the current circumstances. Participating filmmakers include Chukiat Sakweerakul, Chukiat Wongsuwan, Thunska Pansittivorakul, Pramotz Sangsorn, Panata Ditsuvankul, Suchada Sirithanawuddhi, Soraya Nakasuwan, Saifah Tanthana, Sanchai Chotirosseranee and Anocha Suwichakornpong The artists are Lolay Kornkrit Jianpinidnan and Panu Aree. The foundation’s Chalida Uabumrungjit will also screen her short at this event. The videos will be screened simultaneously with a concert by Anti Ceptic (exSoundlanding), Stylish Nonsense, Bear Garden, Fong Fodd featuring (the actor Teeradanai Suwanahom on vocals, and Assajan Jakawan.
