Personal airbag
Protection for PWD
Tokyo-based Prop late last week released a personal 1.1-kg airbag especially designed for the elderly and people with disabilities (PWD). It looks like a traveller's waist pouch but inflates in one-tenth of a second when sensors detect the wearer has taken a tumble. It protects the back of the head and the buttocks with two inflated bags that contain 15 litres (3.9 gallons) of gas each. It's good value at 148,000 yen (about Bt47,000) and should soon be available worldwide. - AFP.
This mouse flies!
Movea's Gyration Motionsense Air Mouse weighs less than four ounces and has fancy gyroscopes and accelerometers inside so you can control your computer as if you were playing your Wii, by waving it in mid-air without the need of a wizard's spell.
The mouse uses 2.4GHz wireless technology with a 100-foot range, and it's got buttons you can customise and gesture recognition. Two rotational gyro axes and three linear accelerometer axes detect your movements. If your arm gets tired, there's a standard laser-mouse option.
The Air Mouse will be available starting next month for about Bt3,400. See www.Gyration.com.
Air purifier
Clean your world
The world is getting hotter and dirtier everyday. But don't worry. The ozone-free carbon fibre ioniser generates millions of negative ions to thoroughly clean and ionise the air. The fan immediately and silently draws the polluted air in then disperse the negative ions evenly back into the air. If you room is a five-cube-metre space, buy one. If it's bigger, you need more. Get one for $25 (about Bt900) from www.USBGeek.com.
