Why judges require tact
Published on September 29, 2008
Ananda Everingham doesn't expect any problems being a judge for the Bangkok International Film Festival
- he plans to watch the flicks and say what he thinks. What could go wrong? This year's line-up, he says, is "the best so far", although the Thai movies on the schedule "could have been better". Festival regulars know that compromise is crucial when it comes to choosing the Thai films, and having something from every major studio tends to weaken the overall slate. That's why, as Ananda probably knows, the programme includes "Ponglang Amazing Theatre", "Dream Team" and "Orahun Summer", which aren't exactly new.
