Remembering Mitr

Daily Xpress
Published on September 29, 2008

IT'S BEEN 38 YEARS

since a tragic accident ended the life of Thai superstar Mitr Chaibancha and on November 9, friends and fans will pay tribute to a concert at Siam Niramit Theatre.

Hosted the Mitr's Lovers Club, the show features veteran actors and singers Aranya Namwong, Umaporn Bua-phueng, Surachai Sombatcharoen and his son's Suthep Junior Band. Rising star Korakan "Arm" Sutthikoset will cover "Yard Petch", the soundtrack from "Ngern Ngern Ngern" ("Money, Money, Money"), in which Mitr starred opposite Petchara Chaowarat.

Aside from remembering Mitr, the concert aims to raise money to preserve the country's cinematic history.

Net revenue will go to Thailand National Film Archive to build a new air-conditioned vault to preserve classic Thai films of the future. Tickets cost Bt2,500 from www.ThaiTicketMajor.com.
