Going green with health

EVERYONE WANTS to save the world and now you can help, even when you are sick. In keeping with the eco trend, Samitivej Hospital recently did away with the plastic-laminated bags they’ve been using for the past several years. Now, the hospital is using paper bags made from 100-per-cent recycled fibre.
That may sound trivial but read this: In producing one tonne of recycled paper, we are saving five tonnes of trees, plus making a significant reduction in the water and electricity used as well as waste water and greenhouse gas emission created from the production process.
And the hospital saves about Bt2 million a year from the new choice, money it’s promised to donate to the Samitivej Foundation's reforestation project. The more trees grown, the more carbon dioxide absorbed.
