Young fashion backs its way into the future

Italian brand Just Cavalli has unveiled its latest collection for the young-at-heart at Zen.

Young people love to express their individuality, says designer Roberto Cavalli, even if they sometimes contradict themselves by looking to the past for clothing inspiration.

A rummage through mum's closet turns up great ideas, as do shops selling vintage gear and old vinyl-record covers.

 "With this collection, their musical taste is the inspiration," Cavalli says.

There are micro dresses in double organza and wool tweeds; long, fluid dresses in georgette and extra-light silk; miniskirts in python skin and camel colours, in felt and wool and denim.

A key element is the vest, offered in two extreme lengths - cropped or extra long, with fox or Mongolian fur details.

Peach, tangerine and emerald green are the bright accents in the collection.

The print of the season is an abstract flamingo motif, in white on a black background, but there are also bright pops of colour in floral backdrops.

And check out the variations of plaid, from traditional black, grey and red to a contemporary orange with gold combination.

Accessories: Stiletto Mary Janes in printed, embossed leather with tone-on-tone laminated leather detailing. Tights are extra bright, printed with the same motif of the clothing and paired with every look. Cross-body purses in fur and bright color suede hobo bags. Necklaces with oversized owl, toucan and flamingo pendants. Felt fedora brimmed hats.
