The French fashion label brings a cascade of different moods and colours to the Bangkok catwalk
This winter's Chloe girl arrived with a cool femininity and uniquely Parisian look at Siam Paragon's World Fashion Trends Autumn/Winter 2008 event last week. The theme was a different outfit to fit her mood every day. One day she's in a fox, beaver and coyote jacket, insouciantly worn with a billowing musketeer silk blouse and stovepipe pants - whose very proper English morning stripe is scrolled with very un-proper gothic blooms. The next, she wants something free, loose, and flowing - a rose-print silk dress that skims over her body before languidly flaring out towards the floor. If she needs something to throw on top, she grabs a lean, nipped-shouldered wool coat with velvet buttons. Yet Chloe girl is never without her shimmering compact bag, in shiny leather rimmed with python, which hangs from her shoulder by a multi-chain strap. Super-pointed spike heels in patent leather and crocodile sharpen up the look. For other days there are amply proportioned, side-slit masculine overcoats in classic English herringbone, check tweeds or tutu skirts. For a party, Victorian-inspired narrow cuffs and a high neckline adorn a lace cocktail dress. Chloe's longstanding tradition of richly imaginative prints flows on. This season, says chief designer Paulo Melim Andersson, Chloe girl belongs to the "magpie school" of looking good. She has a bohemian spirit, stealing whatever looks good and feels right.
Xtra Steal these ideas Lace or polo shirts and cropped, straight-fit "boyfriend" sweaters are the crucial underpinnings. Add lurex leggings or floral glitter-tights, and the whole look really rocks. The colour palette is like an opened jewellery box: amethyst, rose and emerald contrasted with black, biscuit, smoky grey and midnight.
