Tanyaporn Prucksakorn failed to make the cut for the final eight of the women's 10-metre air pistol at the Beijing Games, but was satisfied with her 380 points.
The 18-year-old Bangkok shooter fired 95-95-93-97 in her four series for an aggregate 380 points to finish a distant 20th, shattering her dreams of making it to the finals. "I was excited. I tried to be calm and to concentrate, but could not regain my form. In the third series, I tried too hard to produce the goods. "I hope to fare much better in my favourite event in the pistol on Wednesday," she says. "Before travelling to Beijing, I promised my father to make at least 380 points. If I did, my father will let me have a change in hairstyle." Chinese Guo Wenjun fired 102.3 in the final round for the gold, followed by Russian Natalia Paderina and Georgian Nino Salukvadze.
