Debutantes bow to Mother Nature

Published on July 27, 2008
When the eight young-lady scions of celebrated families were "introduced to society" as part of the Emporium's 2008 Les Debutantes en Beaute last week, they paid homage to nature by planting 99 trees at the Nature and Agriculture Education Centre.
Borrowing from the age-old French tradition, the mall has for three years given the young women of prominent families a chance to make their formal debut in high society. Making their emergence this year were Nicha Suebwonglee, Natprapa and Natmada Choonhavan, Khunpak Issara, Praew Kongtoranin, Kavita Rodkerd, Pimchana Sa-Nguansat and Pimpayap Srikarnchana. Already well schooled in social etiquette, the belles learned about global warming and the correct way to grow plants. Everyone was enthusiastic and put a lot of effort into their green-thumb project. A day in the garden left them smiling radiantly for the elegant ball held on Friday in the Emporium's Fashion Hall.
