Boyd and Pod nurture nostalgia for the 1990s with a song list that goes back 15 years
The debut concert by LOVEiS "Bittersweet Once in a Life Time" staged last Tuesday at Impact Arena, marked 15 years of collaboration between veteran songwriter Boyd Kosiyabongse and Tanachai "Pod" Ujjin of rock band Moderndog, and a partnership stretching back to the beginning of Bakery Music. More than 10,500 devoted fans showed up for the concert, which took place on two magnificently lit stages. The sound system worked without a blip and even though the two stars had a few problems moving around the smaller stage, fans enjoyed the opportunity of getting up close and personal with their heroes. The duo travelled through time with a 26-track set list, starting from the early days of their collaboration and bringing back many fond memories of songs recorded with other Bakery stars. Screams rang out when the backup band of Thai and foreign musicians played the first notes of the opening track, "Chao Ying", and applause greeted "Busaba", rearranged with Latin-style rhythms and with an outstanding guitar line that brought to mind Carlos Santana. Nop Pornchamni jammed with the duo on "Yak Ja Khor" while Groove Riders' frontman Burin was joined by rapper Joey Boy for his cover of "Hormone". Boyd and Pod closed out the concert with a series of hits that included crowd pleasers "Hang Klai Luea Kern" and "Seasons Change".
