Roong-Radisaya "Kru Toon" Vai-asa, the veteran musician from the band Pink Panther, is extending his talent for tunes into music therapy in the form of an audio book.
"L'amour de-Roong-Radisaya" has hit the bookstores in a bid to relax folks in today's increasingly tense society. It comes with a CD containing 10 songs specifically designed to adjust your brainwaves. Tell your nervous system to pay attention and see if you don't feel better. "The frequencies are between eight and 14 Hz," says Kru Toon, "whereas the frequencies of most of the music sold nowadays is between 15 and 30, which can trigger the body to produce adrenaline and make you feel tense." The songs are about different kinds of love - a child's love of his parents, teenage puppy love, an adult's love of family … They should bring back memories and release some nurturing emotions. "The fourth song has the sexy sound of an electric organ," Kru Toon says. "Women might visual their own beauty. It could arouse sexual desire. This one's ideal for men with erectile dysfunction who don't want to rely on medicine." For the best results, he suggests, listen to the music before bedtime or first thing in the morning. "Lay down. Relax every part of your body. Let go of everything you've faced during the day or expect to face. And visualise according to what you hear in the music." Sukamon Wipaweeponkul, head of the psychiatric department of Phayathai 2 Hospital, often uses music in treating his patients. It stimulates the emotions, he says, and if there are lyrics too, it stimulates thoughts. Sukamon likens listening to Kru Toon's music to sipping good wine. "It can take you on a mental journey and lessen your stress."
