Medical experts will take six months to make a final conclusion on the kidney-loss case.
Kesorn Phoomcham, 43, filed a public complaint claiming that she may have lost one of her kidneys to organ harvesters or medical error. She refuses to believe the MRI scan conducted yesterday that shows her as having two kidneys, though one is smaller. "So, we will invite experts from the Royal Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons to examine this case," Medical Council deputy secretary-general Dr Sampandh Komrit said yesterday. In the meantime, Sam-pandh says his council will give free treatment to Kesorn, who has developed health problems. According to Kesorn, she discovered that she had only 40-per-cent kidney function during an annual check-up this month. An ultrasound revealed that she had only one kidney. "Something must have happened to my kidney during a surgery I was undergoing at a private hospital," she says. In 2005, Kesorn had a car accident and tests showed her organs to be healthy. A year later she had abdominal pain and was admitted to a private hospital for surgery to remove an ovarian cyst.
