Silly Fools' bassist has a passion for military models
With his dreadlocks and non-conformist attitude, you wouldn't think that Silly Fools' bass player would be mad about the military. Okay, so we've seen Thewarit "Rang" Srisuk look cool in fatigues, but what we didn't know is that he's been collecting action figures of soldiers for years. "I'm crazy about the military," he grins. "I even dressed up in army gear to watch 'Saving Private Ryan'. My girlfriend thought it was hilarious!" Rang has been collecting military models from both World Wars for over 10 years and now owns more than 50. They're valued at between Bt1,000 and Bt10,000 a pop, and he also has an impressive hoard of Mustang RC planes, Tiger Moth RC biplanes, classic automobiles and guns. "My first model was a guerrilla with a motorcycle that I bought for Bt1,500 while we working on our 'Candyman' album back in 1999. It looked smart and it was the cheapest they had! "Most of the soldiers in my collection are from the American and German armies in WWII. They look really smart in their uniforms" He also owns a set of the US Army Seals that he bought for Bt16,000, and a German soldier with a classic automobile worth B5,000. Most soldiers in his collection come from Saphan Lek. "Actually the Army Seal set had three frogmen but I lost one after putting it on a jet ski," he laughs. He doesn't just enjoy looking at his toy military, which is on display around his condo, he's also interested in their history. "I'm fascinated by the weaponry used in the World Wars, and love reading about the uniforms, guns and equipment. I'm constantly amazed by the technological innovations of the last 50 years, but sad that man has created so many destructive weapons," he says.
