HM the Queen sends her condolences to the mother of a young police lieutenant killed in an ambush by Yala Muslim insurgents.

Phimlak Bunlue, the mother of Krittikul, says the Queen encouraged her and consoled her in a letter. It was presented to her yesterday by Ayutthaya Governor Preecha Kamolbutr.

The letter was sent from Kraikangwon Palace in Prachuap Khiri Khan where the Queen is currently in residence.

Phimlak, a State school teacher, is overwhelmed at the Queen's concern. She wishes the Queen good health.

Krittikul was a special operations company commander in the Border Patrol and well liked by Yala Buddhist and Muslim residents alike.

He was killed in an ambush in Bannang Sata on June 21, his 24th birthday.

Father Narin is a state-school teacher in Lop Buri. The couple has another son in vocational college in Pathum Thani.
