The 13-member Korean boy band, Super Junior, wow Thai fans with a sell out show at Impact Arena
South Korean supergroup Super Junior brought the house down on Saturday, performing in front of 10,000 screaming, light-stick-waving fans on the first leg of their "1st Asia Tour - Super Show" at Bangkok's Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani. With the arena's ground floor converted into a massive stage, there was plenty of room for manoeuvre. Small and large screens alternated between graphics, music videos, behind-the-scenes and SJ animations as well as special effects including fireworks and firebombs, bringing to mind last year's concert by the boy band's SM Entertainment label-mates Dong Bang Shin Gi. And Super Junior were every bit as professional as the older "Gods of the East", effortlessly performing 31 tracks and putting on individual shows. Each of the boys made a point of getting up close and personal with their fans, walking right into the middle of the crowd and sitting on the edge of the stage for a few intimate moments. The supergroup opened with hits like "Twins (Knock Out)" and "Rock This House" from their first studio album, 2005's "Twins", then slowed down the tempo with the ballads "Mirror", "She's Gone" and "You're My Endless Love" off their second album, 2007's "Don't Don". Other danceable tracks included the rock version of "Dancing Out", "First Train" and "Dance". They also sang covers of British group Paper Lace's "The Night Chicago Died" and offered their own take on the Village People's "YMCA", complete with amusing signs for the letters.
