Kamthorn Cherdchookiat will no longer be able to seek employment in the public sector. University rector Suraphol Nitikraiphoj says Kamthorn is not dishonourably discharged because there's insufficient evidence or forensics to back the allegations. No criminal charges have been brought against the teacher. There is just one alleged victim.
End of BMA probe Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin is expected today to say the city will not launch a full-scale investigation into allegations officials took Bt125 million in bribes. It's been alleged in Japan that the Japanese partners in a construction joint venture paid the sweetener to land the Klong Saen Saeb-Lat Phrao drainage-tunnel contract. City clerk Pongsak Semsan says findings of the administration's preliminary inquiry were handed to the governor yesterday morning. It found no grounds that back-handers had been paid to officials as claimed. He says this suggests there will be no full-scale probe. However, the city will pass its findings to the National Counter Corruption Commission and the Department of Special Investigation.
