Magnifico-oh-oh-oh! 'We Will Rock You' is amazing. Which one's Freddie Mercury?

Jukebox musicals seem guaranteed for commercial success: You know the lyrics and you're keen to see how they're played out. It's the script that connects the tunes, and Ben Elton's script for "We Will Rock You" - with input from Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor - is a boom-boom blast.

It may seem a little contrived towards the end, but it's a straightforward story of rebellion, freedom and love, and packs its share of social messages and comic bites.

As Galileo Figaro, the misfit-turn-hero who keeps hearing songs in his head, MiG Ayesa is mesmerising. He performed this role in London's West End for two years and has repeated the feat more than a thousand times, and yet his performance still stirs the adrenaline.

She's a killer

Portraying the ruthless global-corporation boss Killer Queen, Annie Krummer kills viewers mercifully with her amazing voice and cartoonish evilness.

The rest of the ensemble comprises mostly South African performers who show high standards in singing, dancing and acting.

The accompanying band, led by Rowan Bakker, is vigorous and passionate, although the theatre's acoustics don't always support their heart-pounding prowess.

In short, this emotionally uplifting show is one of the best West End musical experiences Bangkokians will ever getwithout a long-haul plane flight.

You don't have to be a fan of Queen to fully enjoy it - you just need to believe in the power of music and the importance of individuality. And, in the end, you may find yourself breaching common theatre etiquette and dancing in the aisles.

Why not? Everyone else is.
