Paris to Tokyo is easy for birds
Published on July 13, 2008
Opened in 1984, La Tour D'Argent Tokyo is the sister restaurant of the high-class Parisian restaurant founded in 1582.
After you've viewed the portrait of France's King Henri IV astride his steed and the antique collection in the blue-carpeted entrance hall, make your way to the dining salon, where you are greeted by splendid decor reminiscent of the Parisian parent eatery. The spacious, oval room is redolent of luxury at every turn, with large chandeliers, opulent oak-panelled walls, Louis XV furniture and elegant, understated curtains. While the cuisine bears a close resemblance to that served in La Tour D'Argent in Paris, it has original flourishes. The signature dish is duckling that's flown in directly from France. Diners who select this dish receive as a memento a certificate stating the number of the duckling consumed. Around 600 bins, most of which are French, are offered in the extensive wine list.
