Rock Online by Singha has taken Thailand's online music circle by storm, with 100,000 cybernauts viewing the homepage of the stylish rock-themed website and many of them turning up on Tuesday night to celebrate with its managers and web designer at Overtone on RCA.
"It's succeeded beyond all our expectation," confided a Truehits.net official. "When we launched the website, we had just 30 hits but within four months, that's shot up to an amazing 100,000. Usually, it takes more than a year to build that kind of traffic." "It was the first time I had experimented with digital media after being involved with magazines, newspapers and the radio," said the website's founder, DJ Aree Thankam. "Music is a universal language." Among the well wishers at the party were Pisces Music's founder Amporn Chakkaphak and her husband, Season magazine editor Tiva Sarachudha, along with veteran guitarists Olarn Phromjai, Kitti Guitar Gun, Chor-On The Fox, and Prart Aroonrungsi. Overtone's music cave was converted into a radio station for the occasion with DJs Aree Thankam aka Phayuhin Guru, Norasate Mudkong aka DJ Seed, Kirati Phromsakha Na Sakol Nakorn aka Kiew Carabao, Kunttong Asunee Na Ayuthaya, Arthur Hunsen, and Lek Wongsawang taking turns to spin the grooves. Rockers Angle, Brand New Sunset, Ae Wizard, Nathania and Abuse the Youth performed mini sets and Blue Mountain Boys wowed the crowds with cool bluegrass numbers.
