The award-winning rockers thrill fans at the sell-out show
Not only did rockers Bodyslam fill up Impact Arena last Saturday, their vocalist, Atiwara "Toon" Kongmalai - who's been out of action for two months due to a vocal chord problem - proved that the skies had cleared with a rocking rendition of "Lang Fon" ("After the Rain"). Bodyslam played a total of 30 hits taken from all four of their studio albums, taking care to pace the song list so as not to strain Toon's voice. While this was understandable, it was also occasionally boring, with more than half of their slower rock songs being played consecutively. The band opened with "Hai Rak Khum Khrong" and "Bodyslam", and followed up with "Thang Khong Chan Fun Khong Ther" and "Cheewit Pen Khong Rao". Screams rose to fever pitch as the first note of "Narika Tai" was played, and brought the house down as the band segued into such massive hits as "Yok Thos", "Arkaat" and "Khwam Sue Sat". Most bands have special guests at a concert of this size but not Bodyslam. They merely introduced the new rock band No More Tears' singer Fakfang, who duetted with Toon in "Khae Lapta". And the vocalist proved just how much he cares for his fans, admitting at one stage that he was tired and then singing a cover of Flo Rida's "Low" with hip-hop group Buddha Bless, who then performed "Bump Boom Boom". Toon came down from the stage to come closer to his fans, before singing "Sak Wan Chan Ja Dee Phor" and bringing the evening to a close with "Khon Mee Tang".
