Designers with fresh ideas have opened a showcase stuffed full of their work
After the Asian financial storm hit in 1997, a group of designers decided to concentrate their creative powers under one umbrella. The result was the Design and Objects Associa-tion, which has built up a reputation for cool designs and quality products at the annual Bangkok International Gift and Houseware Fairs and trade fairs abroad. In 2006, deciding to expand their target group to local shopaholics, several members of the association opened the D&O shop in Gaysorn plaza on Rajprasong.
Its showcase of unique designs is divided into four categories - furnishings, ceramics, accessories and jewellery - with products from the shop's own brands sitting alongside eye-catching items from multi-award-winning designers like Narttawat Tham-pipat. "We offer exclusive creations by Thai designers that focus on fresh looks and functionality," says association member Suraphong Oudom-ying. They include sleek chairs, wood tables, innovative stationery, handmade ceramics, elegant jewellery, beautiful cloth bags, colourful pillowcases, foot scrapers and cotton dolls. The D&O Shop's products can also be found at the Intentio Royal Phuket Marine.
