An increasing number of poor people from remote areas are coming to Bangkok to spend their lives as beggars; and Thais are ever generous, dropping coins into their bowls without thinking if this will really help them.

If you must give money to beggars, make sure you give it to the right ones, such as the handicapped who cannot help themselves.
