Wonderful Town

Published on May 18, 2008

Young architect Ton (Supphasit Kansen) arrives in a sleepy isolated coastal village to supervise the construction of a beach resort.

Damage from the 2004 tsunami still lingers, and it's in this ominous atmosphere that Ton begins a tentative romance with a young woman, Na (Anchalee Saisoontorm), the pretty, sensitive proprietor of the hotel. Directed by Aditya Assarat, it's part of the Directors' Screen series. At 7pm daily until June 11 at SFW CentralWorld; with English subtitles.

The Counterfeiters

A Jewish forger (Karl Markovics) is forced to help the Nazis in a scheme to bankrupt Britain by flooding the market with fake banknotes. This the first Austrian film to win the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In German with English and Thai subtitles at the Lido.
