The Thai women's volleyball team are in Tokyo, ready for the World Women's Olympic Qualification Tournament starting tomorrow, and seemingly have a brighter prospect in the tournament than the men's team.
Japan will compete alongside Algeria, Argentina and Italy from May 31 to June 8 in the World Men's Olympic Qualification Tournament which could double up as the Asian qualifiers. South Korea, Australia, Iran and Thailand as the four best-ranked teams at the Asian Continental Championship complete the line-up. The winners plus the best Asian team will qualify for Beijing. The Thai men's squad will leave for Tokyo on May 29 and open their campaign against Australia in the round-robin competition on May 31. They will take on Algeria and Iran on June 1 and 3 respectively. On June 4, an uphill task awaits the Thais as they will challenge Japan. They next go up against Argentina, Italy and South Korea on June 6, 7 and 8 respectively.
