RCA's 808 club invites clubbers to take a cruise with a trance pioneer on Sunday
Who says Tiesto is the only good trance DJ from Holland? Come Sunday night, meet Ferry Corsten - aka System F - who'll be manning the decks at 808. A pioneer in the trance scene, Corsten has built a big reputation with his unique remixing style. But has he got the beats to beat on Tiesto, who is consistently voted one of the world's top DJs and is currently ranked No 8 by DJ magazine? Not sure who to lay our money on, we called up Corsten for some inside information.
What are you up to now? I'm in the middle of my Asian tour. This weekend I'll be heading to Korea, Japan and finally Bangkok. In the summer I'll fly back for my regular gig in Ibiza and of course I'll be playing lots of festivals around the world again. I'm also preparing for the second "Full on Ferry" night, which will take place November 1 in the Netherlands - check it out at www.FullOnFerry.com.
Got any big projects in the pipeline? My new album will be released at the end of 2008, so I'm working hard in the studio right now to finish it. I have a clothing line with IKY, too. It's taking the US by storm and we're coming up with new ideas for next season.
Who's your style icon? Tough one! I've noticed that I'm drawn to Swedish designer labels - must be the Scandin-avian cool.
If you weren't a DJ, what would you be doing? [Long pause] I'd be... an electrical engineer.
What's the show going to be like? I'm gonna blast some high energy at the audience and see how they take it.
