Beauty queen-turned-filmmaker Areeya "Pop" Sirisoda is out and about promoting her second documentary, "Oh Oh Paktai Baan-rao", which she again co-directs with Nisa Kongsri, her collaborator on "Dek Toh" ("Innocence").
Pop was at last week's premiere of the Directors' Screen series at SF World Cinema, mixing with indie filmmakers and handing out postcards for her new movie, which examines the situation in the South. It will premiere next month. Pop doesn't need to do much more. In short, she needs only to show her sweet face and hand out postcards. And, it's always nice to have yet another pretty at any event.
Fit and proper Observer sport columnist David Hills has named former premier Thaksin Shinawatra "the Premier League's best ever Fit And Proper Person". As Hills puts it: "Bought Man City in July ... then took City's PR team to Thailand to manage his personal rebrand ..." Well, he goes on to remind us of some unsavoury things about our ex-PM. But City player Kasper Schmeichel is more upbeat about his boss. "Thaksin's a very generous and very nice man! He's a good man and City is close to his heart. He's a really genuine guy."
