Best skilled workers' contest

The best young workers from around the country will compete in 27 skills at a national contest.
The 22nd Thai National Skills Competition will be hosted by the Skill Deve-lopment Department from May 30 to June 2 at Impact Muang Thong Thani and the winners will represent the Kingdom in the Asian Skills Competition. Department chief Somkiat Chayasriwong said four youths had won silver medals - in lathe machine operating, interior electrical wiring, air-conditioner/freezer mechanics and flower arranging - at the 39th World Skills Competition in Japan's Shizuoka province. Aksorn Prong-akard also won a gold medal in welding at the 38th World Skills Competition in Finland. The 24-year-old Trat Technical College student said that after he won the prize he had more opportunities and support from the department's seniors and finally completed his vocational certificate.
