Maria Sharapova has a TAG Heuer to tell her she's been on court for too long

Three-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova doesn't make enough money playing tennis, so the poor thing has to sell wristwatches to make ends meet. It's not exactly, "Psst, hey mister!" out behind the stadium, but TAG Heuer seems happy enough to have her flogging its latest models.

We bought a watch (after giving it a good shake and dunking it in water) and asked Maria a few questions.

Shouldn't you be practising your return of serve or something?

Being No 1 is still at the top of my agenda, and it would be amazing to win the Olympic gold this year.

So why are you hawking watches?

TAG Heuer approached me in 2005 to become one of its ambassadors and I thought it was truly an honour. Tiger Woods and Lewis Hamilton are ambassadors too. So are Brad Pitt and Uma Thurman.

You're all just pretty faces!

No, I've been actively involved in the design and development of several TAG Heuer feminine timepieces, like the Formula One Diamonds Chronograph and Professional Sports Watch.

What are you wearing? On your wrist, we mean.

I love wardrobing with different pieces based on my mood, my plans for the day or my outfit. The watch I tend to wear most is the Formula 1 Diamond Chronograph, which comes in pink, white and black.

Lately, I've been wearing my pink Professional Sports Watch while training, working out or just chilling. Pink is my favourite colour, and this piece is extremely light and comfortable. Every so often I'll shake things up and wear a traditionally masculine watch like the Carrera or Monaco.

You've been posing for pictures again, haven't you?

I do enjoy the occasional high-fashion photo shoots. They always hire the top photographers - Marco Grob shot our latest session in Los Angeles - and I get to be styled by my favourite fashion stylist, Rachel Zoe.

You've got bangs!

I'd wanted to do something different for a long time - I needed a change. I'm really excited about my new look.
