One dead as train derails in Songkhla

One passenger died and a dozen others were hospitalised after a train derailed in the South province of Songkhla, State Railway of Thailand says.

The accident occurred late Saturday night when a train from Phatthalung to Sungai Kolok on the Malaysian border derailed near a railway station.

The injured were taken to a hospital in Hat Yai, where one man died of multiple injuries.

Suspended rail services were expected to resume last night.
