Electronic speed control is being developed by two technical students for city buses to ensure passenger safety.
Thossaphol Imkamol and Phichet Saensom of King Mongkut's University of Technology, Thon Buri say the system will prevent drivers from speeding. Real-time images from webcams on bus windshields and other information is sent to a control centre. It's hoped it can be used on city buses and help lower accident rates.
Ministry to pay The Nonthaburi Provincial Court yesterday ordered the Public Health Ministry to pay Bt3.9 million in compensation for brain damage suffered by a young man. Yongyuth Pannina, now 23, was permanently disabled while he was seeking treatment at a state hospital in early 2005.
High-end users A drug dealer reveals her cocaine customers are mostly leading actors and upper-class nightlife seekers. Sunisa Srikantarak, 19, tells police she earns between Bt2,000 and Bt3,000 per delivery. "I deliver drugs to customers in the RCA area every Friday," Sunisa says. The Crime Suppression Division arrested Sunisa yesterday afternoon in a sting operation.
