Following heated debate, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will review plans for a new road.

An ad-hoc committee has been established to look into the impact on people living between Soi Intamara 14 and Soi Intamara 4 in Phya Thai. If constructed, the road will link the two.

Angered many people

However, it has drawn flak over reports more than 500 people face property expropriation.

Bangkok Councillor Prasit Raksalarm, who represents Watthana district, yesterday questioned why the road would zigzag past housing estates and condominiums. "Is this project intended to profit some landlords?" Prasit asked at a Bangkok Council session.

However, a source says the road was planned a long time ago. A feasibility study was conducted in 1998 when there was not much housing.
