FA review of Bridge bust-up

Agencies, Chelsea

Published on April 28, 2008

The Football Association will ask to see "all details and TV footage" of Saturday's post-match scuffle between Manchester United players and Chelsea stewards.

United substitutes became embroiled in a fracas with Stamford Bridge staff and stewards in the warm-down following their 2-1 defeat.

The FA spokesman Andrin Cooper revealed the governing body will be looking into the matter, saying: "This will have nothing to do with the referee's report. He would have been in his dressing room a long way from the incident.

The row erupted after Patrice Evra, Paul Scholes, John O'Shea, Gerard Pique and Gary Neville, who were taking part in the warm-down on the pitch, were asked to move by Chelsea ground staff.

Meanwhile, United defender Rio Ferdinand was forced to apologise to a steward after accidently kicking her in the aftermath of Michael Ballack's late winner at Stamford Bridge.
