'Motorcycle' and three other shorts by Aditya Assarat screen in a
retrospective tomorrow night
New wave independent filmmaker Aditya Assarat will showcase his four shorts in a retrospective 7pm tomorrow at Bioscope magazine's offices on Rachadaphisek Soi 22.
The 77-minute programme features the award-winning "Motorcycle" from 2000, "Waiting" from 2003, "Boy Genius" from 2005 and "Boy Genius 2: The Sign" (2006).
"Motorcycle" is Aditya's master's thesis film and is about a father grieving over the loss of his son in a motorcycle wreck. It won many awards from international festivals in Chicago and San Francisco as well as the Shorts International Film Festival in New York City.
"Waiting" is a 23-minute short about an old man travelling to Surat Thani to find a former lover. The "Boy Genius" series is about two filmmakers shooting making a movie at home.
Aditya graduated with a master's degree in cinema from the University of Southern California in 2000. He co-founded Pop Pictures in 2006 to produce his first solo feature, "Wonderful Town", which premiered last year in Pusan, South Korea.
