This new Texas-based alternative rock band is young, raw and full of energy. Most of the songs on this self-titled album feature roaring guitar, brooding beats and Lacey Mosley's angelic voice, which is particularly intense on "Fully Alive", "Perfect", "All Around Me" and "Breathe Today". "I'm so Sick", "I'm Sorry" and "Red Sam" are all strong numbers but the outstanding tracks are the ballads "Cassie", about the heroine of Columbine fame, and "There For You", about friendship.
This Gift Sons & Daughters (Domino) Scottish quartet Sons & Daughters positively rock on this, their follow-up to 2005's debut outing "The Repulsion Box". Most of the songs strike hard with raging riffs, muscular bass lines, thumping drums, and Adele Bethel's girlish voice. "Split Ups" is catchy with guitar pop and aggressive beats while "The Bell" is more of a pop song with strong melodic guitar. "The Nest" and "Rebel with the Ghost" are danceable with a satisfyingly hard edge.
