No fooling around
On the rock scene for more than a decade, Silly Fools are now tuning in to an international audience

Rockers Silly Fools are back on track with a new singer, Benjamin Jung Tuffnell, and a brand new album, "The One". The winners of Favourite Artist at the 2005 MTV Asia Awards are also pleased that their former vocalist, Natapol "Toe" Puthapawana, who quit the band abruptly in December 2006, is doing rather well with his new outfit, Hangman.
"I think we've both found new alternatives," says drummer Tortrakan "Tor" Baingern. "And we're reaping the benefits." Ben, a South Korean raised in America, sang on the limited-edition mini album released in December 2006 on their very own Pirate Records. "The One", however, is being distributed by RS Public.
"RS doesn't hold the copyright, though," says Tor. "If we sold our copyright to any recording company, we wouldn't be able to go international." With an overseas tour planned for later this year, "The One" has been released in two versions, one in Thai and the other in English. Both were recorded at Sexy Pink Studio and Baingern Beat Studio in Thailand but mixed by Greg Reely at Green Jacket Studio in Vancouver, Canada.
"Only two Thai artists, Tata Young and ourselves, are selling songs on iTunes. Now our numbers are receiving airplay in Canada, Germany and America," says Ben. "Two weeks ago, we played at Mosaic Music Festival in Singapore and got great feedback," he adds. "Fans from all over the world are visiting our website."
