Switch off and tune in

Hooked on television?

Published on March 31, 2008

A group has formed to encourage you to turn off the box, and get a real life.

It wants you to kick the television habit for a whole week, and see where things take you.

Kittichai Ngamchaipisit, of the We Change group, says people must realise their "own power". The group says television-programme producers are brainwashing viewers.

Starts April 21

The turn-off-and-tune-in campaign starts April 21 and during the week the group will hold a workshop illustrating how the tube has hijacked your life.

Apartment Khun Pa vocalist Tul Waitoonkiat agrees people are addicted to television and this has to stop. He prefers the Internet, where the people are real and there's more variety. "Ask yourself ... are you addicted to television. If you get mad when you miss a programme, you're hooked," Tul says.
