Sensual overload
Radiant colours make for a rainbow of glamour this summer
Published on March 18, 2008
Just in time to sweeten up your face this hot season are new items from MAC cosmetics. "In" this season, are retro reds, and dashes of other rich hues on your lips and eyelids. This summer subtlety and pretentiousness are "out" when it comes to choosing outfits and matching them with makeup colours. What's popular are contemporary, bright looks that feel more sporty and less deliberately glamorous than the previous autumn/winter look. "The look calls for a light foundation but stresses the concealing of unwanted features with simple techniques," says Pornpichit Khumngeun, the brand's senior makeup artist. One hot trend is the Sculpted look. "This beautiful look is very natural. It results in glowing skin, which contrasts with the low-key Acrylic look. The Sculpted look highlights strong and neon colours. Examples include black or navy eyeliner or just a bright tomato-red lipstick on its own," notes the makeup artist. "The idea is that bright lips do all the talking. Popular lipsticks include oranges, reds and bright peach." "Makeup trends this season are fun and lively," he adds. "Don't worry about skin conditions too much that you are afraid to put on cosmetics. It's important though to use high-quality skincare for cleansing and nourishing the skin. Whatever trends you prefer, be confident, and makeup will improve your image."
