Brazenly colourful footwear is in style this summer
If a man stares at a woman's cleavage he's a perv, but what if he looks at your shoes?

He may only be trying to figure out your best characteristics. "I read somewhere that 80 per cent of men judge a woman by what shoes she wears," says stylist Sombatsara Teerasaroch at the launch party for London's Faith shoes in Bangkok. "Shoes give you character." Though conservative women prefer plain black shoes, others are putting some dash into their outfits this year by wearing lots of colour on their feet. Matching a black skirt with black shoes is a little old now, says Sombatsara, but it's fun to use contrasting colours and show a little boldness. Particularly in style this summer are shoes that are bright red and orange, as well as glamorous pairs in silver and gold. Sombatsara warns women with darker skin to avoid shoes in pastels like baby blue or pink. For formal occasions, black, white and beige are safe bets. Naphaporn Bodiratnang-kura, who describes herself as a high-heel specialist, says the most popular height for heels in Thailand is 2.5 inches. But for petite women like her, she recommends five-inch heels. She's been walking in high heels since she was 13. "I suffer for beauty," says "the Paris Hilton of Thailand", who owns 300 hundred pairs, some costing as much as Bt10,000.
