The third Bangkok International Fashion Week, hosted by Siam Paragon, will be unveiling the Summer Colourful Collection from March 20 to 23. More than Bt40 million has been sunk into the grand event, which will feature a parade of outfits from popular brands like Flynow, Greyhound by Nokia, Nagara, Pichita, Theatre, 27 Nov, Kunitar & 8E88 and Top & Bottoms by Phuket Mermaids. Also on view will be newcomers such as Asava Inspired by Singh and Fash from Srinakharinwirot University, plus an introduction to new makeup and hairstyle trends presented by Extravaganza by l'Oreal Professionnel. Siam Paragon chief executive Chadatip Chutrakul says the event will boost interest in fresh ideas in local fashion at reasonable prices. "We've seen many rising designers over the years, and we help support them," she notes. Vivid, summery colours are represented throughout the latest collections. The freshest of the new designers this season is the up-and-coming Polpat Asavaprapha, who creates outfits for the brand Asava Inspired by Singha. He says that when he was a stylist he brought together the creative ideas of different designers and mixed and matched them to meet the specific tastes of each client. For his own debut collection, though, he's focused on the chic, smart and urban woman. "She is confident and time-conscious, so her dress is rather semi-casual, to reduce the fussiness of dressing up. The main inspiration is from the late '60s and early '70s, while the colour tone is neutral, grey, navy and champagne, with injections with a pastel pink and velvet."
