How sweet is it for Cindy and Byron?

Marriage is going great for Sirinya "Cindy" Bishop and her husband Byron - except for one thing: They're a little short on sweetness.

Published on March 10, 2008

Yes, they always seem so sweet together, but the problem is that Cindy's husband can't take too much sugar. Even a little bit immediately boosts his insulin and puts him to sleep - it can happen anytime and anywhere.

"He once dozed off straight after dinner," says Cindy. "At first my mum thought, 'What a lazy husband!' He was sleeping most of the time!"

This strange affliction is called hypoglycaemia. Though not serious, it's best to avoid sugar, so he's very careful about what he eats and drinks.

That's fine with Cindy because she loves to cook for him. And no, he's never needed an after-meal nap since.

Je Da's not one for lame excuses

Think being a socialite requires no effort? Think again. Take Darunee "Je Da" Kritboonyalai, for instance.

Her appearance drew lots of praise at Tuesday's launch party for the Daily Xpress, but this time around it wasn't because of the way she was dressed or her stunning smile. It was her mode of transport.

Je Da came in a wheelchair - she'd broken a leg in a tumble.

But she's a spirited lady and, as one of the paper's TV pitchmen, she didn't want to miss out on the fun.

Soopsip gives her a big hand. Get well soon, Je Da!
